I agree with Jake Bugg

Any member of 1D could have been replaced with any other robot that can sing and things wouldn’t change at all. They’re just puppets that think they’re talented just because they’re famous.

Once again, the haters love to show their elitism by blindly taking the side of the celebrity who chose to publically instigate yet another feud with 1D while they get more PR. Then once again they play the victim when there is a response. Don’t be sheep and don’t trash people’s music just to feel cool because it has turned into a fashionable movement. It does not make you hip or high brow to blast them as music and people.

The bashing from other celebrities is going out of control. It is not fine for Jake Bugg or other artists to bully One Direction just because they are not as successful as they are.

This has turned into an obnoxious trend. Insult 1D, trigger a war between fanbases, and then another jealous artist gets more publicity at their expense while 1D has to deal with negativity for defending themselves. The media continues to show unbalanced reporting by not even sharing all of the vicious comments that other celebrities make yet they widely publicize it when 1D responds back. They know 1D has a strong fanbase that will fire back strongly. Then the other artists get to play the victim while their fanbase becomes stronger by feuding with directioners. It is a gross cycle.

This is not constructive criticism but mindless slandering to get more publicity because they are a major success and have a huge following. First The Wanted, All Time Low, and Boy George as well as others all had to slag One Direction. Then 1D gets most of the blame from the media when they didn’t even start the feud.

Give me a break. Most of you are bashing and trashing 1D to feel superior because they are a mainstream pop boyband. You are only basing your assessment on the few singles that get played on the radio. If you listed to their other songs on their past two albums and listen to their acoustic material…you can recognize their talent. They can definitely sing. In fact, Liam and Zayn actually do have good range and vocal ability.

Actually, listen to One Direction’s acoustic performances and their concert footage as well as their performances on X Factor. Even if it is not your genre of music, you
have to at least admit they can sing.

It is actually disgusting people are just blindly taking Jake Bugg’s side because he is being calculating and playing the underdog card. He called them terrible and mocked them. The media also edits down the artists who bash 1D yet they fully report how 1D and their fans fired back. Any other band would reply back to this. It is even more twisted because Jake Bugg is in their inner circle of acquaitances and he also knows the boys personally. This is bullying, exploitation, and manipulation.

Also, there is such snobbish posturing on this site. I bet most of you are not even familiar with Jake Bugg’s work yet you are taking his side and claiming he is better than them. Jake Bugg could never achieve their level of fame. 1D is a worldwide phenomenon. Jake Bugg is a B-lister in the UK.

Not to mention, he spouted a bunch of fallacies. 1D did write some of the material on their second album. Not to mention, many artists don’t write their own songs but they do not get bashed for it.

Jake Bugg revealed his ugliness and professional jealousy. He started the drama because it is has become cool in the industry to insult 1D to get more PR and to feel superior. It is not right to bash and degrade One Direction because they are such a famous boyband. He is not an underdog but showed himself to be arrogant, rude, and spiteful as well as classless. Not to mention two-faced because he pretended to be friends with Niall Horan.

1D started out as regular boys who auditioned for the X Factor. They came in third place and are hardworking guys. They became huge due to the level of support from their fans who fell in love with them and their songs. They don’t pretend to be better than they are and make music for their target demographic which is mostly teenagers. They have plenty of older fans as well.

These celebrities know the media will paint 1D in a negative light while they get more attention. It is actually sick most of the posters are jumping on the bandwagon to support artists who trash 1D for their own agenda. It is not cool for the industry to victimize them. Most of the most successful acts in the wolrd have huge corporate branding and are pop artists. Quit holding One Direction to a double-standard.

Wow. Just wow. No one’s saying you have to like One Direction. Okay, that might be a lie. There are A LOT of immature directioners out there probably saying just that. But you know what? I am one. I haven’t personally come across any. At the end of the day, Jake Bugg did -not- have to say what he did. Could the boys have been a bit more mature in their defense of themselves? Why should they have to be the mature ones, when the people attacking them go to such lengths to make them feel badly?

You don’t think 1D is talented? Cool. A lot of people have that viewpoint. That isn’t some crazy, revolutionary thing.

Saying bad things about 1D just proves to me you have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s one thing to think they’re not The Beatles, that they’re not “rock stars”…it’s an entirely different thing to think they don’t deserve what they have. One Direction is comprised of five wonderful young men and I’m proud of them for standing up for themselves, though I do admit Liam could have chosen a different way to address Boy George.

Criticism is entirely different from blatant hate. If you want to criticize 1D, go right on ahead. But you’re going to disrespect the biggest boy band in the world…and expect no backlash? Um. No.

The only thing these boys “don’t deserve” is the hate they get. Being famous isn’t hurting anyone. They actually make -decent- music. They co-wrote MOST of the songs on their second album, they are WORKING every day for what they have. I just really don’t get people who hate on them.

I am also a fan of Jake Bugg’s and this story really disappoints me.

With all due respect , Jake Bugg is really talented. Maybe he shouldn’t have been so harsh however he was asked for his opinion. Why should he have to lie? He is not a ‘bug’ next to One Direction……fame is not everything:). Whats more important to some musicians is being respected. If people like One Direction and I do find some of their songs catchy, thats completely fine! But to say they aren’t a bunch of manufactured

I think I know why I love them. Now you are implying anybody who is a fan of them must be shallow when most of their haters are not familiar with their songs outside of the few singles that are played on mainstream radio.

Walsh? Simon Cowell was their mentor. Mass produced goods? Can’t you claim that against any really mainstream pop artist or band that produces continuous hits? It is not okay to degrade artists or mock them as bad just because they are huge commercial commodities. They are not the worst and this ugliness is unfounded. Many people all over the world truly appreciate their music and what they represent.

This is just elitism and posturing at its worst. Jake Bugg is not better or entitled to be an ass because he is so “indie” and writes music for less profitable musicians.

Again, he’s not Indie. His album hit number 1 in England. He’s being honest. A lot of people are thinking that exact same thing. He just has the chops to speak publicly out of it without fear of being hounded by crazy fans.
He’s amazingly talented, and his music is great. Just check him out.

Jake Bugg may be talented and original but that was uncalled for. He is young so I have hope that he will mature and realize that it is far better to use the public forum for positive statements not personal attacks. Many people enjoy 1D’s performances and I find them charming. I have enjoyed watching them grow as a group and work hard to hone their musical skills. There are many genres of music available. Listen to the whom you like without insulting those you find less entertaining. I do.

One Direction are a boyband specialising in POP, not rock. If they played rock they would actually play instruments… Their market is for stroppy teen girls who have orgasms over them. Jake Bugg is an artist specialising in indie rock/acoustic music and his market are the indie/hipster crowd. Personally I don’t give a crap because they are both terrible and I prefer Classic Rock or blues…

Jake Bugg makes songs about smoking and getting drunk while One Direction make songs about wanting to be with girls… I hate both so it’s ok

No, he was rude and classless. He was not being honest either because 1D’s music is not terrible. The Beatles music was considered groundbreaking in its era but if had been released today, it would be considered pop…not rock either. People compare to 1D to the Beatles because of their pop culture impact and fandom hysteria because they are popular worldwide. 1D is huge to their generation and teenage demographic in many countries. People don’t contrast 1D and The Beatles musically at all. Even 1D has scoffed at the comparison between them and The Beatles in several interviews.
