Jada Pinkett Smith and Tupac Shakur formed a close friendship while attending high school together during the ’80s, but the actress isn’t happy about how their relationship is portrayed in All Eyez on Me, the biopic about the late rapper hitting theaters Friday. Smith slammed the movie on Twitter, pointing out how it misrepresents the facts.

“Forgive me… my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth,” Smith began a series of tweets after presumably seeing the film. The actress first took umbrage with a scene in which Shakur reads her character a romantic poem, despite the two never being an item. “Pac never read me that poem,” she noted. “I didn’t know that poem existed until it was printed in his book.”

Another scene in the biopic shows the late rapper bidding an emotional farewell to Smith before going out to California to chase his music dreams, but Smith insists the interaction never happened. “Pac never said goodbye to me before leaving for LA,” she tweeted. “He had to leave abruptly and it wasn’t to pursue his career.” As for the film’s additional mistruths, Smith says, “I’ve never been to any of Pac’s shows by his request. We never had an argument backstage. The reimagining of my relationship to Pac has been deeply hurtful.”

Smith went on to assure newcomers Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Kat Graham, who portray Shakur and herself in the movie, that they’re not to blame for her issues with the film. “To @KatGraham and @Dshippjr this is no fault of yours,” the actress wrote. “Thank you for bringing so much heart and spirit to your roles. You both did a beautiful job with what you were given. Thank you both.” The biopic’s June 16 release happens to coincide with the late rapper’s birthday, so Smith concluded by writing, “Happy birthday Pac, you are cradled in my heart for eternity. I love you.”
