Ivanka Trump ‘GMA’ Interview: Hillary Clinton Doing Nothing About Maternity Leave (VIDEO)
The daughter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump appeared on the ABC talk show to discuss her father’s new family leave and child care plan, which she called “affordable,” “accessible,” and “long overdue.” But when Trump was told that Clinton has in fact proposed maternity leave policies of her own, she responded, “Respectfully, Hillary Clinton has been around for decades and there’s no policy benefiting either mothers or fathers in terms of paid leave. She had the opportunity to have a concept like that.”
Trump further argued, “We have not been in public office for the last several decades and she has. So she could have instituted some of those policies in that role and has not done so.” The businesswoman and married mother of three young children further noted that her father’s thousands of employees receive paid maternity leave, while she herself “offers flexible hours” and doesn’t “police sick days or vacation days.” She added, “And at my own business, since inception I’ve offered eight weeks paid leave. Only 10 percent of American companies offer that.” Watch Trump’s full “GMA” interview below.
