Item wrongly links Carey Mulligan to Jeremy Renner

“Uh-oh!” begins a piece by Perez Hilton that’s titled, “Carey Mulligan Getting Flirty With Hurt Locker Star.”
And “Uh-oh!” was our response to reading Perez’s reporting about Mulligan and Jeremy Renner.
Perez, who noted Carey Mulligan’s onscreen and offscreen beau Shia LaBeouf wasn’t with her at the Oscars, asks, “Trouble in paradise, Mizz Mulligan??”
He then writes that “the Oscar nominated actress couldn’t have been missing him TOO much, because she was reportedly seen getting pretty cozy with fellow nominee Jeremy Renner, who is recently single and already being linked to… Jessica Simpson!!”
Perez warns Mulligan “Watch out, girlfriend!! You don’t want to incur the wrath of Shia AND [Simpson].”
OK, so where should Gossip Cop begin?
Let’s start with WHERE Mulligan and Renner supposedly were “seen getting pretty cozy.”
Perez has no idea. He never fact-checks.
The answer is the two were hanging out and laughing together at the Vanity Fair party.
But that’s about it.
As for incurring the “wrath” of Simpson, um… why would that happen?
Simpson and Renner may have been “linked,” but wrongly so. They briefly met at a pre-Oscar party a few days ago.
A rep for The Hurt Locker star calls the Perez story “nonsense,” adding that it “seems as though everyone he talks to, he is dating.”
Additionally, there is no “trouble in paradise.” A source close to LaBeouf assure us he and Mulligan are still going strong.
Well, at least Perez spelled everyone’s name correctly. It’s a start.
