(Vanity Fair)
An interview with Robert Pattinson in Italian Vanity Fair has created a huge stir on both sides of the Atlantic.
Hundreds of outlets have zeroed in on a portion of the interview in which Pattinson says, “I am single… almost everything that came out about my private life is false.”
RadarOnline.com highlights the line and declares that it “clears up a few misconceptions about his life and loves in an interview with the magazine,” specifically that it torpedoes rumors of a romance with Kristen Stewart.
So is this – at long last – the final word on Robsten?
Well, allow Gossip Cop to “clear up a few misconceptions” about the interview itself.
We reached out to the Milan offices of Conde Nast (Vanity Fair’s publisher) and asked about the nature of the Pattinson cover story.
The magazine told us the article is actually a compilation of separate interviews (conducted by the same writer) in New York, at Cannes, and in Rome during the Italian promotional leg for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” They stressed that it was “not a specific one-on-one,” but rather a “mix of meetings” and interviews.
Most importantly, when asked about the “I am single” line, Vanity Fair told Gossip Cop Pattinson gave that specific remark during the Cannes Film Festival.
Last May.
So sites trying to pass off the “newsy” tidbit as having anything to do with Pattinson’s relationship status are seven months off.

Anything for an exclusive! Can’t believe they admitted the quote is so old that it can be taken completely out of context. Looks like Conde Naste redeem themselves in the end.
is he still playing that “im single, I can’t get a date” crap
now I think he is most likely single but the I can’t get a date crap he must think his fans are complete retards, i’m sure of it
dancing: are you just thick OR did you just not bother to read what was written before commenting?
Any true fan knows old quotes when we see them. However, even if he recently said it, technically it wouldn’t be incorrect since a “single” man can be engaged and/or have a girlfriend. Only married people aren’t single. So what’s the big deal. Unless he’s married, he is a single man. Duh. That’s just being technical. But anyone who has half a mind knows he’s w/Kristen so really it doesn’t matter what this crazy Italian mag states. No to mention, that the Vanity Fair mag in America was wrong also using old quotes from Rob. The Harper’s Bazaar mag blew Vanity Fair’s interview out of the water. In HB, you can read that he and Kristen are a couple w/out a doubt. So, again, if anyone wants to get technical, he is a single guy unless there’s something about Rob’s marital status Gossip Cop wants to share? Hmmm…..
WOW GC. Why did you remove the word WRONG at the end of his relationship status is off. Who got to you? We all know he is with Kristen Stewart and it isn’t just dating! This is the most bizarre thing and anyone with a brain can’t understand why with proof like The Charlie and obvious other living arrangements including HB they wouldn’t want to just set the record straight. It may be catch 22 for them, and maybe even a legal matter, but this for all appearances sheds a negative light on both of them and opens the doors for more ridiculous slander for both of them as well.
Yes, really strange , why did you remove the word WRONG ?? I thought you were a reliable source ???…
Everybody knows they are together, if you can t say it outloud who will ??
@dancer1: totally agree with you. You took the words directly out of my mouth :)
