Desperate Tab Comes Up With Desperate Jessica Simpson Cover

Truth rating: 2

With her ex-boyfriend Tony Romo linked to sportscaster Candice Crawford and ex-husband Nick Lachey reportedly seeing Vanessa Minnillo again, In Touch has put Jessica Simpson on its cover in a piece titled, “Desperate Hookup,” which alleges she’s “reuniting with the man who betrayed her,” John Mayer.

Sometimes Gossip Cop wonders if the writers of these stories even believe them. But we digress . . .

According to this latest piece, an “insider reveals that in a state of desperation and loneliness, [Simpson's] been secretly hooking up with her ex John Mayer.” The tale goes on to say that, though her friends have warned her that he’s a player, “Jessica has jumped headfirst into a relationship with the singer.”

In Touch further claims that in July she went to his L.A. studio to listen to his new album, and “after listening to his songs about breakups, they reunited.” Uh huh. The tab even quotes a so-called source: “He was easily able to seduce her, and he sees nothing wrong with that.”

Here’s what Gossip Cop sees as wrong – the whole story.

While reps for Mayer and Simpson, as a matter of policy, don’t comment on their clients’ personal lives, a source close to Simpson came out swinging. The Simpson confidante, who questioned the feasibility of it all since Simpson has been out of town for the past month in France, Brazil and Japan, shooting her new VH1 series “The Price of Beauty,” said firmly, “It’s not true. She has not gotten back together with John.”

Sounds like John Mayer gets more a** than a toilet seat, if you believe all these stories about him. I think he’s kind of overrated, but still doesn’t deserved to be lied about.

This is what’s wrong with your equation. John’s rep just responded to Contact Music and denied the Kristen C. story, so you’re telling us that his rep said “no comment” on this one? I think that is significant.

Sounds to me like Romo PR team trying to take the heat off of TONY & his cheating ways. Im not believing any Mayer story here at all. Anyone following can see Jess has been very busy & if you follow JOHN at all can see he’s into other things. lol Once any tabloid puts Jessicas face on the cover it sells & they don’t care what thye print. Any trye friend or source would never spill garbage like this. Interesting INTOUCH just before this had an article saying Jess & Tony were still communicating. What happened to that source. Should someone not be accountable for all the bullshit they write?

Thanks Gossip cop. WE need more tabloid cops out there.

Sarah Bethune, please re-read the ContactMusic story, which they attribute to GossipCop for breaking! They wrongly attributed a quote to a rep saying “there’s No Such Thing,” although GossipCop had originally written “As Mayer sings, there’s “No Such Thing” going on. A bewildered rep for Cavallari told Gossip Cop that the tale is “not true.” It was their fault — they never spoke to a rep. They just misquoted our story. No worries!

Sarah this tabloid tale is redundant and old. If I was their rep I wouldn’t bother responding either. It was a convenient cover now that Tony Romo has a new girlfriend and her ex-husband is back with his girlfriend.
