IN TOUCH ‘BETRAYS’ READERS WITH JESSICA SIMPSON STORY

So what do you do after desperately running a completely fabricated cover story titled, “Desperate Hookup,” alleging – as In Touch did last week – that Jessica Simpson is “reuniting with the man who betrayed her,” John Mayer. Simple! You come back this week and desperately cover your tracks with an article called “John Betrays Jessica Already.”

And that’s exactly what In Touch has done.

Last week Gossip Cop busted In Touch for its ridiculous cover story featuring a source who said, “In a state of desperation and loneliness, [Simpson’s] been secretly hooking up with her ex John Mayer.”

Well, here are the facts: Jessica was not seeing John Mayer then, and is not seeing him now either. Her rep says, “She has not seen him in a while.”

But instead of In Touch doing an accurate story called, “We don’t know what the heck we’re talking about,” they’ve deflected attention this week by saying Simpson is being deceived by Mayer, who is now “secretly seeing Jen [Aniston].” Toward the end of this week’s silly story, the tabloid writes, “Jessica could be setting herself up for heartbreak if she continues seeing him.” (Uh, how can she continue seeing him when she’s already NOT seeing him?)

The way In Touch is going, they’ll probably try to further distance themselves from their mistakes with another article next week titled, “Jessica finally walks away!”
