Iggy Azalea: I Did NOT Record Demi Lovato Rap Without Listening To Song First!
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Azalea recorded a rap verse for Lovato’s new song “Kingdom Come” without ever listening to the track. Lovato herself said in an MTV interview, “I was actually getting on a flight, so I called her, and I was like ‘Hey, will you do a song?’ And she was like, ‘Yeah, sure, I’ll go in the studio tonight.’ I’m like, ‘Do you wanna hear it first?’ She’s like, ‘No, it’s cool.’ I was like, ‘You’re an amazing friend and I love you.'”
Lovato’s comment was interpreted as meaning Azalea just created a random rap verse and sent it to her pal without hearing the original song. But that wasn’t what Lovato meant, and isn’t really what she said, either. Azalea took to Twitter on Friday to clarify.
“I think someone that interviewed demi wrote an article that says i wrote kingdom come without ever hearing the music. lol,” tweeted the rapper. “She meant i agreed to do the song without having heard it first, not that i recorded and wrote it sans song and music. thats impossible. VERY cool… hahaha. BUT, impossible.”
Lovato and Azalea have become close friends over the last year, and the pop star will serve as a bridesmaid when Azalea marries Nick Young. They did a surprise collaboration during the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend, when Azalea joined Lovato for a remix of “Cool For The Summer.” Watch video of Lovato’s original comments below, and tell us what you think of the confusion.
