Ian Somerhalder: It Would Be “Incredible” to Star in Fifty Shades of Grey (VIDEO)

Ian Somerhalder is ready to get down and dirty – in Fifty Shades of Grey.

The actor, who has steamed up quite a few scenes already on “The Vampire Diaries,” said on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Monday that he’s more than thrilled at the suggestion he might be cast in the upcoming erotic film.

“I absolutely would be up for that,” Somerhalder said of playing Christian Grey, the businessman who convinces a young college graduate to be his S&M partner.

The rights to the raunchy novel, which was inspired by the Twilight Saga, were recently sold to Universal Pictures and Focus Features.

Somerhalder said he “just started reading” the book, but is already sure the role would be a great fit for him.

“That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out,” he told Seacrest.

He later added, “Yes, beyond the shadow of a doubt, I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!”

This is really a non story. It is only a story if he actually gets the role. Any second rate tv actor would jump at the chance to be in a movie based on a book that has some buzz about it.

Well u have to have someone who is very innocent looking to play Ana, i’d say Dakota Fanning. this would be a big grown up part for her and i think she could look good against Ian. although i kinda thought if u could get Tom Sturidge to bulk up he could make a good Cristian as well.

Why cant people think of someone else other then a real life couple or a couple you have already seen play a love interest? There are a million actresses who could play Ana’s pathetic character, It wouldn’t even take a good actress to fill the part. If I wanted to see Damon and Elana I would watch VPD. Think outside the box there are heaps of actresses who could her character.

I think this interview just about guarantees he will NOT get the part. Bigwigs in HWood hate when actors beg for a part or project themselves into a part. Now if Ian gets the part people will think it’s so easy to just go on Seacrest and beg for a part and you’ll get it. So, he has blown his (nonexistant) chance at this role. Personally, I think any actor who is serious about acting should stay clear of this thing. Even the author thinks it’s sh!t!! However, having said that, I think two unknowns would be better than the usual suspects for this movie.

Ian would be great in 50 Shades of Grey. Ian would be great in anything! He certainly has an acting range that is larger than Damon! I love him as Damon…..he’s perfect….but I would like to see him stretch his acting abilities too! Give him a chance!

this character was inspired by Robert Pattinson EL James has admitted it herself Obviously if you are not a fan of his you wont get it ! He would never do a movie like this just saying it is only about him and Kristen so its got to be someone unknown !!!

Robert is the first choice, of course, but if someone propose him to take this part, he will run away as fast as he can (and he can, we know;). so the second choice is Ian: handsome, sexy, talented actor.. and obviously smart if he gets the importance of this role. only dumbas-ses don’t understand this thing is going to be:)

I watched an interview with the author and she remarked that she wants someone not known very well to play the part of Christian. Not quoting exactly but it was clear she preferred an unknown. I happen to agree with her.

I agree with the author and she prefers an unknown. Ian is not right and neither is Nina. I hope they get a good casting director to find the right couple for this and a producer and director who will actually be able to put this movie on the screen without an X rating. If not it will probably go straight to DVD. I really don’t see how they can stay true to the book and get it in major movie theators. The book is really porn and not suited to play to major audiences. JMHO. :)
