Hunter Plake “The Voice” Knockouts Video: Watch “I Want To Know What Love Is” Performance
Hunter Plake sang Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” for his Knockouts performance on “The Voice” on Monday. Check out the video below!
As Gossip Cop reported just last week, Plake competed in the Battles with Jack Cassidy. Both members of Alicia Keys’ team, they did an emotional duet of “Dancing On My Own.” Cassidy was declared the winner, but both Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine hit their buttons to steal Plake. He ultimately chose to join Team Gwen.
Now for the third round of the NBC competition, Plake was facing off with new team mate, Johnny Gates, who picked Lady Gaga’s “Million Reasons” for his own performance. During rehearsals, Stefani said she paired them to go head to head because they’re both in the alternative rock vein. Gates was “nervous” to go against Plake, and seeing Gates rehearse was a reminder for Plake that it wouldn’t be “easy” to make it through.
Interestingly, Gates chose to ditch his guitar, while Plake sat at the piano for much of his turn. Both choices made for very emotional renditions. Stefani exclaimed afterward, “What am I gonna do?!” Adam Levine lamented that Plake didn’t choose him as his new coach, and thought he deserved to win the round. Blake Shelton agreed.
Keys also praised her former artist, but gave her vote to Gates. Of course, the decision was all up to Stefani. While she thought Gates did an “incredible job,” she also called Plake’s reinvention of Foreigner’s classic love song “unbelievable.” And she ultimately named Plake the winner!
