Hulk Hogan WWE Contract “Terminated” — SEE STATEMENT HERE
Hulk Hogan’s contract with the WWE has been “terminated,” the organization announced on Friday.
In a statement, the wrestling company says, “WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”
The announcement comes hours after all references to Hogan disappeared from the WWE website, as Gossip Cop previously noted. The company made the decision after learning of a racist rant Hogan made on his now infamous sex tape. The wrestling superstar is currently in a lawsuit over the tape’s leak, and according to transcripts that were filed in a related court case, unseen footage from it includes Hogan going on a tirade about his daughter Brooke’s involvement with “n*ggers.”
For his part, Hogan’s attorney claims he was NOT fired, but resigned from the WWE on Thursday night. Early Friday morning, the wrestler cryptically tweeted, “In the storm I release control, God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be, one love. HH.”
Furthering the controversy is a separate audio tape of Hogan using the n-word repeatedly in a radio interview from 2012, as Gossip Cop reported earlier. We’ll have updates.
UPDATE: Hogan released an apology statement later Friday morning.
