Hugh Jackman: I’m Playing Wolverine “One Last Time” (PHOTO)
Hugh Jackman is playing Wolverine just one more time. The actor, who has portrayed the Marvel mutant in seven different movies since 2000, shared an Instagram picture of the superhero’s iconic claws on Saturday, along with the caption, “WOLVERINE …ONE LAST TIME. HJ.” See the photo below.
There is a stand-alone Wolverine movie, a sequel to The Wolverine, set for release in March 2017, and it’s assume Jackman’s final performance as the character will be in that film. It’s not clear whether he will have cameo appearances in X-Men: Apocalypse (slated for 2016) or other Wolverine-related projects.
Jackman has been in the original X-Men trilogy of the early-to-mid 2000s, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class (in a cameo), The Wolverine, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. He’s also provided the character’s voice in a number of video games.
Earlier this week, Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that she will be making her fourth and final appearance as the mutant Mystique in X-Men: Apocalypse. She told MTV, “It is my last one.” Given how popular the franchise has been, the X-Men universe will continue in the future. Gossip Cop will have updates on announcing projects and casting. Will you be sad to see Jackman go?
