Hugh Hefner Reacts to Cancellation of The Playboy Club

Hugh Hefner has weighed in on the cancellation of “The Playboy Club.”

Hef tweeted, “I’m sorry NBC’s ‘The Playboy Club’ didn’t find it’s audience. It should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience.”

“Fans of ‘The Playboy Club’ are really upset at the cancellation,” he added.

As Gossip Cop reported earlier, the NBC show, which starred Eddie Cibrian and Amber Heard, premiered to a modest 5 million viewers on September 20, and then plummeted to 3.8 million the following week. The drama’s third and most recent episode garnered just 3.2 million viewers.

“The Playboy Club” also faced opposition from the Parents Television Council, which repeatedly blasted the show for its sexual content and portrayal of women.

Today, NBC announced that Brian Williams’ newsmagazine show “Rock Center” will take over the series’ time slot beginning October 31.

    So upset they cancelled what could have been such a great show. The PTC are just a bunch of hippies that have nothing better to do than complain all the time.

    Where is this parents council when BAD GIRLS or any of the HOUSEWIVES shows are on? When they finally get a show that appeals to a mature audience they cancel it. NBC sucks!!

    Oh come on…I’m a mad men fan, never dvr and i dvr’d this show. Give it a chance….what is wrong with the networks…..Public opinion takes time and takes word of mouth as well…It is such a cool era and am so bummed I wont see more…Put your man pants on and commit and stick with what you started. TV is so lame and this really had some great moments….spudz

    it’s just beyond bullshit..if there was sexual content just change the channel and be a grown up about it, damn that parent council w.e they,,.history is being told even if there sex and nudity everybody likes the innocent time of the 60′s. Ohh and it was aired at ten pm shouldnt little kids be in bed by then, fucking bullshit
