Hugh Grant Reportedly Drops Out Of New Bridget Jones Movie
Hugh Grant has reportedly dropped out of the third Bridget Jones movie.
“I decided not to do it,” the actor is quoted as telling Free Radio in a new interview. “But I think they’re going to go ahead and do it without [my character]. The book’s excellent, by the way, but the script is completely different – well, the script as I last saw it a few years ago.”
Grant portrayed Daniel Cleaver in the first two Bridget Jones movies, based on the hit book series by Helen Fielding.
Fielding’s latest installment, “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” hit bookstores last year and is set to be the basis of a third movie.
Grant starred in Bridget Jones’ Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason opposite Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth.
It should be noted that a third Bridget Jones movie starring Zellweger is expected to happen after delays, but has NOT officially entered development.
Moreover, Grant disputed an earlier round of rumors in 2012 that he intended to leave the series.
In other words — things could change.
