PETA Suggests Honey Boo Boo Rename Chicken “Not a Nugget”

Honey Boo Boo’s pet chicken, which the seven-year-old chose to name “Nugget,” has caught the attention of PETA.

In an open letter to the TLC star, whose real name is Alana Thompson, the animal rights organization suggests she rename her new feathered friend “Not a Nugget” in order to “let your fans know that they should be nice to chickens by not eating them.”

PETA says it hopes the animal “will show the family and their many fans that chickens are smart, affectionate, and family-oriented birds who deserve better than to be abused and slaughtered.”

The group adds, “We’re eager to help the Thompsons switch to healthy, delicious, and humane vegan-chicken nuggets,” which “taste just like meat, except no chicken had to die to make them.”

PETA also sent Honey Boo Boo a sample of the vegan snack, along with a T-shirt of a chicken saying, “I am not a nugget.”

A rep for TLC had no comment on the letter.

    I have no issues with this family and what they do. They seem genuine and enjoy life. However, didn’t she have a pet pig that they were unable to have the time to care for? Why get another pet?

    Lol Seriously? I really have nothing to say, but wow. I’d laugh if someone sent me some vegan chicken nuggets. Good luck with getting them to listen because I don’t see that happening.

    She’s 7 years old, hence the name. Come on PETA, we respect u all as an organization, but sometimes they really go further than they should. And Honey Boo Boo and he family are from the rural south, i will bet my last dollar, they eat and enjoy several different types of meat, including chicken. lol

    What doesn’t PETA have a problem with? What a joke. I’m surprised PETA isn’t demanding she not have it as a pet-after all they hate people having pets.

    Let the kid name her pet whatever she wants. It isn’t an issue.

    What PETA does not understand and they are dumb not to know this. There are more chickens than us in this world. Why? Cause chickens have not stopped laying eggs.

    @Ama exactly what that little redneck kid names her pet isn’t news. nobody said anything when Paul Newman’s daughters named their discented skunk pepe 40 years ago among the other pets they had including dogs cats horses chickens falcons and a weasel. the difference is he and his wife were legitament stars who had clout while this girl is a reality tv trainwreck so nobody could complain when their kids had those as pets

    Yes they did have a pet pig named Porky. They ate it. That was before the show got popular so PETA couldn’t use them for publicity back then. Obviously that has changed.
