HollywoodLife Lies About David and Victoria Beckham Divorce, Then Steals Gossip Cop Exclusive
David and Victoria Beckham are NOT getting a divorce, as Gossip Cop exclusively reported on Wednesday. But that didn’t stop HollywoodLife from lying about the couple’s nonexistent split, and then changing its story on Thursday by stealing Gossip Cop’s exclusive.
On Wednesday, Gossip Cop exclusively debunked a phony OK! cover story claiming Victoria and David Beckham were headed for a “$1 billion divorce.” The soccer star’s rep exclusively told us the tabloid’s story was “100 percent fiction,” and her spokesperson added only to Gossip Cop, “David and Victoria remain very much together.”
Shortly after OK!’s entirely untrue divorce story hit newsstands on Wednesday, HollywoodLife did zero fact-checking and parroted the magazines’s claim that the couple was “getting a divorce after more than 16 years of marriage.” But then on Thursday, after reading Gossip Cop, the webloid completely flip-flopped (see below) and admitted the couple was not breaking up, and even had the gall to claim it had “the EXCLUSIVE scoop of what’s really going on.”
The webloid wrote, “Indeed, David’s rep has also confirmed to HollywoodLife.com that the divorce reports are 100% fiction.” Um, sound familiar? That’s because David’s rep EXCLUSIVELY told that to Gossip Cop a day before.
Gossip Cop has repeatedly called out the webloid for lying and stealing, and it’s getting tiresome. We very recently busted the unreliable site for pulling its bait-and-switch con with two of our previous exclusive stories about Selena Gomez and Kim Kardashian. It’s no surprise that the blog has earned the nickname HollywoodLies. Perhaps HollywoodSteals might fit as well.
