HollywoodLife Makes Up Whatever Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Story It Likes
As Gossip Cop must point out frequently, HollywoodLife knows nothing about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, instead misleading fans with contradictory stories and outright lies that make no sense and sound like they were written by emotional middle schoolers with hyperactive imaginations.
We have to shine a light on HollywoodLife’s tactics because no one else challenges the webloid’s irresponsible, fan-baiting anti-journalism. Friday provided yet another perfect example of how the site will say anything about Bieber and Gomez as long as it drives outrage and clicks.
Here’s one HollywoodLife headline: “Selena Gomez: The Secret Way She’s Healing After Justin Bieber Heartbreak.” In the story, the blog says, “Selena is getting stronger and more confident each and every day since she split with Justin, and she has her family, in particular her precious sister to be thankful for.”
OK, so HollywoodLife is saying Gomez and Bieber broke up, and Gomez is over it and feeling empowered. In the same article, some made-up source tells the outlet, “Selena’s biggest inspiration for getting over Justin and moving on has been her little sister Gracie. Selena wants to be a role model for her. She wants to be a self empowered woman who takes care of herself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.” Again, the article is pretty clear that Gomez has moved on from Bieber.
Here’s a second HollywoodLife headline, also from Friday: “Selena Gomez Upset: Feels Justin Bieber Is ‘Stringing Her Along.'” Um… what? “The young singer continues to spiral over their relationship and feels that Justin is just stringing her along,” explains the site. “Could she be holding onto something that’s clearly gone?” It adds, “The former Disney star is reportedly constantly crying to Justin Bieber that he needs to change and stop stringing her along.”
OK, so HollywoodLife is now saying Gomez and Bieber have maybe not broken up, and she’s not over it and a complete mess. These two completely different versions of events were posted by the same “news” site just hours apart. Because HollywoodLife does not care about consistency or accuracy. It cares about manipulating readers. Enough.
When Gossip Cop writes about the two stars, it’s based on actual sources — and we don’t try to play every angle every day. We just report as truthfully and straightforwardly as possible.
