HollywoodLife Knows Nothing About Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez
HollywoodLife is still little more than a conveyer belt for garbage speculation about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. The blog continues to publish contradictory stories about the stars, apparently happy to rile up fans and collect page views instead of caring about consistency or accuracy. This is what bad online journalism looks like.
On Tuesday, following the release of Bieber and Cody Simpson’s song “Home to Mama,” HollywoodLife posted this headline: “Justin Bieber’s ‘Home To Mama’ Is The Perfect Message To Selena Gomez.” The accompanying story was all about how Bieber’s track was the “perfect way to win [Gomez] back.” HollywoodLife declared, “It looks like Justin’s sending a pretty loud and clear message to Selena with this new song. Basically, he wants to take her home to mama.”
On Wednesday, HollywoodLife shared this headline: “Justin Bieber Unfollowed Selena Gomez On Instagram.” The site reported, “Sorry Jelena fans, but it looks like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez won’t be rekindling their relationship anytime soon.” The blog continued, “It looks like the notorious bad boy may be giving up this time!” Why? Because he unfollowed Gomez on Instagram. HollywoodLife asks its visitors to tell the site whether Bieber and Gomez are “over for good.”
Two stories, less than 24 hours apart, saying opposite things about Bieber’s intentions with Gomez. And in the next 24 hours, HollywoodLife will probably say more things that make no sense. Making no sense is one of the only things HollywoodLife does well.
