Hillary Clinton Star-Studded Hollywood Fundraiser Hosted By Tobey Maguire
Hillary Clinton attended a star-studded Hollywood fundraiser on Friday at the Los Angeles home of Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer.
Among the famous people at the event were Maguire’s longtime best friend Leonardo DiCaprio, Elizabeth Banks, Sia, and Dustin Lance Black. There were 250 attendees in all, with tickets costing $2,700. The money, expected to total $500,000, goes directly to funding Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Clinton reportedly gave a 30-minute speech in which she called on Hollywood to “help inspire and get people excited” about the 2016 election. The candidate hit on a number of topics, including LGBT issues, the economy, ISIS, and climate. She reportedly did not discuss the Charleston church shooting.
The event followed two separate fundraisers earlier in the day, including one hosted by HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. The former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State has made no secret of her desire to score Hollywood’s vote. As Gossip Cop reported, Beyoncé attended a previous L.A. campaign gathering last month, after which Clinton’s camp tweeted, “Say you’ll Bey on Team #Hillary2016, too.” And it was recently announced, as Gossip Cop noted, that Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett will perform at a New York fundraiser next week.
Clinton’s appearance at Maguire’s home came one day after President Obama attended Democratic National Committee fundraisers hosted by Tyler Perry and Chuck Lorre. What do you think of politicians courting celebrities?
