Ben Affleck, Kate Hudson And Leonardo DiCaprio Among Stars Who Helped Hillary Clinton Raise $47.5 Million In Three Months
Hillary Clinton raised a record-breaking $47.5 million in the second quarter of the year, and a sizable amount of it came from Hollywood stars like Ben Affleck, Kate Hudson, and Leonardo DiCaprio. According to Clinton’s Federal Election Commission filings, she added nearly $50 million in April, May, and June, precisely when she had a number of star-studded fundraisers.
During two separate visits to Los Angeles in May and June alone, Clinton raised nearly $4 million. As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Beyonce attended one of the May events, and Tobey Maguire and his wife Jennifer Meyer hosted another fundraiser in June, which drew Elizabeth Banks, Dustin Lance Black and Sia, among others. Adding to Clinton’s celebrity support was Lady Gaga, who performed at a fundraising event in May.
Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s manager Scooter Braun is slated to host an event for Clinton in August, which is expected to bring in more celebrity dollars. In addition to DiCaprio, Affleck and Hudson, other Hollywood stars who have donated to Clinton, according to filings, include Meredith Baxter, Richard Gere, Chris Colfer, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, and Chloe Grace Mortez.
