Hilary Swank & Jean-Claude Van Damme Under Siege for Attending Birthday Party

Hilary Swank and Jean-Claude Van Damme definitely attended the wrong birthday party.

The two stars were in Grozny, Chechnya on October 5 to celebrate Chechen Republic president Ramzan Kadyrov’s 35th birthday party.

The problem is that Kadyrov, according to the Human Rights Foundation (HRF), abuses the rights of his citizenry, and the organization claims it warned those stars and others to steer clear of the birthday bash.

Nevertheless, Jean-Claude Van Damme stood onstage at the party and said, “I love you Mr. Kadyrov.” And Swank similarly noted how glad she was to be in Grozny and wished him a “Happy Birthday.”

According to the HRF, Kadyrov has been “accused of using torture, causing disappearances, and authorizing extrajudicial executions” since taking office in 2007.

HRF president Thor Halvorssen felt, “Hilary Swank obviously has the right to earn a living entertaining the highest bidder, but this sort of venality should be exposed.”

He added that Swank and Van Damme’s participation was both “disheartening and shameful.”

    This is so random…. why were they even in Chechnya celebrating some dude’s birthday?? Again, random! This had to be a paid appearance. Doesn’t make sense any other way.

    But even if it were a paid participation in this birthday party … it is shameful! This guy, Khadirov ,is a dictator and a murderer, the puppet of Putin! Khadirov is strongly suspected of being responsible for the murder of Anna Politovskaya, Russian journalist who denounced the killings in Tchetchenia. I am very disappointed with Hillary Swank’s greedy and unscrupulous attitude! although she has financial difficulties, there are other ways to bail out without selling her honor, because when you can buy the dignity of someone , that dignity is not worth much ….

    I had no clue Swank was having financial problems. Yea, participating in this birthday celebration to make money was in poor taste.

    It’s unproved allegation. Did they conduct investigation? I don’t think so. In addition, there are five possible reasons of Politkovskaya’s murder, and one of them – is that it was profitable to the third side, I won’t point my finger.
