A bid by Boy George to appear on the British reality show, “Celebrity Big Brother,” has been denied.

The former Culture Club singer lobbied to star on the show, which begins production on January 3; however, the High Court blocked George from appearing on the series because he’s still on probation for assaulting and falsely imprisoning a male escort.

George served four months in jail for his offense.

The ruling judge said, “right-thinking members of the public would take the view that an offender serving the non-custodial part of a sentence of imprisonment should not be allowed to take part in a high profile, controversial television production, promoting his status as a celebrity and with considerable financial gain.”

Reportedly, George – born George O’Dowd – was to receive approximately $320,000 for being a contestant on the reality program.

A lawyer for Boy George said his client was “very disappointed,” and claimed, “This was work for Boy George and the Probation Service has prevented him from working.”

George is mulling an appeal.
