Harry Styles NOT “Taking Steps To Leave” One Direction, Despite Claim (EXCLUSIVE)
Harry Styles is NOT “taking steps to leave” One Direction, despite a story from a new tabloid tale that tries to capitalize on the controversy of Zayn Malik’s recent exit. Sources close to the band tell Gossip Cop exclusively that the story is untrue, with Styles committed to future plans with the group.
According to a so-called “source” for Life & Style, “The others have known for a long time that Harry would go solo. It’s always been his plan.” The tabloid then fills out most of its article by citing an “industry expert,” who has never worked with the band, mouthing off about One Direction supposedly being on the brink of implosion, and regurgitating director Morgan Spurlock’s recent prediction that Styles will be the next member to bail.
The magazine alleges Styles’ “eventual departure has been an open secret” within the group, and claims his band mates are “preparing for that day,” pointing to Louis Tomlinson’s new record label as supposed proof. The alleged Life & Style “insider” goes on to claim that One Direction “might not even finish up this tour, and if they do, it will definitely be their farewell tour.”
That’s all very dramatic… and shamefully sensational. One Direction will absolutely fulfill their current concert obligations. And while it’s possible Styles, or one of the other members, may depart sometime down the line, the “end of One Direction,” as Life & Style puts it, is for now just a tabloid fantasy.
Gossip Cop reached out to sources close to One Direction, and they expressed exasperation at the increase in baseless speculation about the group. “It seems like this is going to be a weekly thing!” one source sniped about the rumor mill going into overdrive as of late. Gossip Cop is further told, “One Direction are continuing to tour and work on their new album as four members.” That’s the end of the story for now.
