Harry Styles To Play Frank Sinatra In Movie?
Harry Styles is NOT gearing up to play Frank Sinatra in a movie, despite a published report. Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for the One Direction heartthrob, and we’re exclusively told the rumor is untrue.
The story appears in the new issue of the National Enquirer, which claims Styles is obsessed with Sinatra, to the point where he supposedly sings the late performer’s tunes “every night before bed.” And, in an unnaturally long, bizarre quote, the magazine cites a so-called “source” as saying, “Harry’s idolized Frank Sinatra for years. He endlessly practices his signature singing and his style. He’s got Frank’s swagger down to a tee! It’s scary, ’cause when Harry looks at you with his dreamy light eyes, you’d swear he was channeling Ol’ Blue Eyes himself!”
All of that was the Enquirer’s ridiculous, made-up way of getting to its biggest claim. “Harry’s huddling with his managers to launch a big-time movie career,” alleges the supermarket tabloid, “with a kickoff flick starring HIM as the legendary crooner.” After going on about how Styles has been studying acting, working on his American accent, and has the full support of his “handlers” for the Sinatra role, the Enquirer naturally provides itself with an out. Says the tab’s supposed “source,” Styles is “just biding his time until he’s a bit older — and his One Direction days lead him in a ‘Ring-a-Ding-Ding’ new direction.”
In other words, the Enquirer is hoping that when no Sinatra biopic starring Styles materializes within a few years, everyone will have forgotten about its tall tale. But that’s not the way it works. The outlet doesn’t just get a free pass for making up quotes (particularly really bad ones) and spreading false claims. The National Enquirer is wrong, and everyone should know. A rep for Styles tells Gossip Cop exclusively, “There is no truth” to the Sinatra claims. There you have it, ring-a-ding-ding!
