A story claiming to know Harry Styles doesn’t have “baby fever” and wants to wait to have children was made up. Gossip Cop can reveal what’s going on.

“Harry Styles: Does He Have Baby Fever Now That Liam & Louis Have Kids?” reads the headline from the fabrication factory known as HollywoodLife. The story begins, “Has Harry Styles caught the baby bug? After watching his buds Liam Payne & Louis Tomlinson become fathers recently, Harry may be feeling a little left out! After all, he’s said he LOVES being an ‘uncle’ to his bandmates’ kids. But is he hoping to have one of his own soon?”

This wasn’t the start of some well-researched piece in the wake of Payne welcoming a son last month and Tomlinson becoming a father last year. Rather, it conveniently appeared only after Styles was asked about his band mates and their children in radio interviews mere hours prior. Just shortly after the singer spoke about Payne and Tomlinson as dads, HollywoodLies magically had an “insider” telling the site all about Styles’ own plans for fatherhood.

“Seeing his mates from 1D having children and becoming fathers has not changed his mind on the subject at all. He doesn’t plan to or want to be a dad anytime soon. He is enjoying being single and doing his thing,” this “insider” supposedly told the webloid, which concludes Styles is “nowhere near ready to have a child.”

But in this instance, it really doesn’t matter much whether Styles has “baby fever” or when he’d like to have kids. At issue is that an “exclusive” article purporting to know about his personal life was seemingly made up out of whole cloth. Gossip Cop investigated, and we’ve exclusively learned that no one legitimately close to the British star would be discussing such matters, and certainly wasn’t after his radio interviews today.

In fact, one contact expressed surprise and disbelief over the article, questioning with whom from Styles’ camp the dubious outlet would be speaking. No one, it seems. It’s far more likely that, given Styles’ media tour today and the high interest in his just-released song, HollywoodLies picked an angle on which to capitalize.

Gossip Cop has demonstrated in recent days how the online publication has exploited real news about stars like Miranda Lambert and Nikki Bella by crafting fake news that’s designed to trick both Google and fans into thinking the webloid has insight. The content may be original and exclusive, but it’s wholly manufactured. That seems to be what’s happening here now with Styles, and it certainly isn’t the first time.

Last year, for instance, Gossip Cop called HollywoodLies out for an “exclusive” claiming Styles was going to appear on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Of course he never did, just like we said he wouldn’t. If fans want to keep reading fantasy about Styles, there’s HollywoodLies. But for those who want fact separated from fiction, stick with Gossip Cop.
