Emma Watson And ‘Harry Potter’ Stars Remember Alan Rickman – See Cast Tributes
Emma Watson and more of Alan Rickman’s Harry Potter co-stars are mourning the death of the actor, who sadly passed away on Thursday at the age of 69. As Gossip Cop reported, Rickman’s family announced the tragic news earlier with a statement in which they revealed the actor had been secretly battling cancer.
Watson, who played female lead Hermione Granger in the fantasy series, posted a tribute on her official Facebook page. The actress wrote, “I’m very sad to hear about Alan today. I feel so lucky to have worked and spent time with such a special man and actor. I’ll really miss our conversations. RIP Alan. We love you.”
Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley, tweeted, “A huge talent and great gentleman. You will be missed, Alan Rickman.” Meanwhile, Jason Isaacs, who played villain Lucius Malfoy, said “Heartbreaking news about lovely Alan. Nobody else could be as hilarious, tragic, terrifying & truthful all at the same time.”
Professor Trelawney portrayer Emma Thompson released a lengthy and touching statement which began, “Alan was my friend and so this is hard to write because I have just kissed him goodbye.” She added, among other things, “What I remember most in this painful leave-taking is his humour, intelligence, wisdom and kindness.”
Warwick Davis, who played a Goblin named Griphook in the films, said, “So terribly sad to hear of the passing of Alan Rickman. Honoured to have shared the screen with him. #Marvin #Snape He’ll be sorely missed.” Meanwhile, Jamie Campbell Bower, who played the younger version of Gellert Grindelwald, tweeted, “Devastated to hear about the passing of Alan Rickman. I had the pleasure of working with him on my first movie. A true legend and gentleman.”
Brothers James and Oliver Phelps, who played Fred and George Weasley, both had kind words to say. James wrote, “Shocked & sad to hear Alan Rickman has passed away. One of the nicest actors I’ve ever met. Thoughts and prayers with his family at this time.” Meanwhile, Oliver said, “Terribly sad news about the passing of Alan Rickman. A funny and engaging person who put a shy young actor at ease when I was on HP.”
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Daniel Radcliffe posted a lengthy tribute to Rickman, in which he called him, among other thing, “one of the greatest actors I will ever work with.” “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling honored Rickman as well, tweeting her condolences to his friends and family.
And finally, the official Harry Potter Facebook page posted a statement that read, “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved Alan Rickman who played Professor Severus Snape. Harry Potter fans will miss him very much. He was a wonderful actor and a very dear friend.”
