Harry Connick Jr. Performs Medley on American Idol — WATCH VIDEO!
The tables were turned on Thursday’s “American Idol,” where judge Harry Connick Jr. hit the stage.
The show’s newest panelist, performed his songs “One Fine Thing” and “Come By Me.” The performance was amusingly dedicated to Munfarid Zaidi, the former contestant who hilariously cradled Connick after his audition on the season premiere.
Connick has earned the nickname “Harsh Harry” for his brutally honest critiques. He is often the odd man out on the panel, frequently disagreeing with Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. The actor-singer insists he’s just trying to give constructive criticism, and he often includes technical terms from his vast knowledge of music composition and vocal performance.
Connick’s performance gave him a chance to show the contestants, and the audience, how it’s really done. Of course, it didn’t hurt that he was also getting to promote his own music, too!
The star previously appeared on “American Idol” as a special guest mentor. This marks his first season as a full-time judge. Will the “Harsh Harry” persona keep him from coming back from another year? It’s probably too early to say.
