Three Girls Killed While Trick Or Treating In Halloween Hit-and-Run
Three 13-year-old girls, including twin sisters, were killed in a hit-and-run while trick or treating in the greater Los Angeles area on Friday. The horrific scene unfolded when an SUV sped through a crosswalk near an elementary school in Santa Ana at approximately 6:45 p.m., struck the girls, and then fled the scene.
Two of the unidentified girls were immediately declared dead, while the third died as paramedics prepared to rush her to an emergency room. The trio was comprised of two sisters and their close friend.
Police are now seeking the two men who were spotted inside the SUV. The vehicle was discovered abandoned nearby, but the suspects fled on foot and remain at large. According to local reports, a crowd of roughly 200 people, many still wearing costumes, came to the scene of the accident to offer support to the victims’ loved ones and each other.
Fire department official Steve Concialdi described the situation as “very sad… when millions of children, teenagers and adults are out trick-or-treating on a wonderful evening to insert tragedy like this.” According to law enforcement sources, the vehicle was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it crashed into the girls.
