Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton White House Performance To Keep ‘Showmance’ Going?
Was Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s performance at the White House just to keep their “showmance” going? A new report is questioning the couple’s motives, as well as their relationship. Gossip Cop can reveal what’s going on.
“Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Perform Failed Duet During White House State Dinner: Desperate To Keep Showmance Alive?” asks Celeb Dirty Laundry in a headline. According to the accompanying story, “Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are so desperate to keep their showmance alive and in the headlines that they’ve even taken their act to the White House.”
The site, of course, is referring to Stefani and Shelton attending the Italian State Dinner earlier this week, where the No Doubt frontwoman was an invited performer. Now the webloid is saying, “While she could have easily managed to sing on her own, Gwen brought Blake as her guest so they could perform their failed duet, ‘Go Ahead And Break My Heart’ at the dinner even though there’s very little chance that anyone cared.”
Stefani, however, DID perform on her own, in addition to singing with Shelton. And CDL doesn’t have a single source to back up its claim that no one “cared.” Nor is there any source for its other allegations, like the outlet’s statement that “it’s pretty obvious that Gwen and Blake’s ‘showmance’ was created to help give their careers the boosts they desperately need.” The blog goes on to say, “Gwen and Blake forcing people to hear them belt out their duet — at the White House no less — once again proves that they are so desperate to stay relevant, they will do just about anything for attention.”
But all that’s been proven here is that Celeb Dirty Laundry is both mean-spirited and clueless. Stefani and Shelton are coming up on their one-year anniversary. And while Gossip Cop was admittedly skeptical about whether the romance was genuine at first, the couple has long since proven their relationship is not a publicity stunt.
Stefani and Shelton performed together at the elite event because, in addition to bringing him as her date, she wanted to include their love song in her set. It’s as simple as that. And it’s rather ridiculous to claim it was only done because they’re “desperate to keep their showmance alive” when it was a private gathering, and not a performance open to the public.
This is now the second untrue story to come out of the couple’s time at the White House. Gossip Cop previously busted RadarOnline for falsely claiming that while at the event, Stefani invited President Obama to her (non-existent) wedding with Shelton.
