Greg Anthony Arrested For Soliciting Prostitute, Suspended By CBS Sports
Greg Anthony, the CBS Sports basketball analyst, has been suspended indefinitely after being arrested in a prostitution sting. The former NBA player was taken into custody on Friday in Washington, D.C. on solicitation charges. He was in the area to announce the Michigan State-Maryland men’s basketball game on Saturday. But Anthony’s days court side may be over for a while.
According to law enforcement officials, Anthony was arrested at 5:46 p.m. on Friday on a misdemeanor solicitation charge that is punishable by up to 180 days n jail. Additional details were not provided. Anthony was released from custody late on Friday. On Saturday, Anthony’s employer announced that he “will not be working again for CBS this season. He has been suspended indefinitely.”
In his own statement, Anthony says, “With this lapse of judgment, I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying that I am sorry.” The 47-year-old Anthony played in the NBA from 1991 to 2002, becoming a commentator for ESPN after his retirement. He switched to college basketball coverage and CBS in 2008.
