“Gossip Girl” Reboot Rumor NOT True
There is no “Gossip Girl” reboot in the works, despite a rumor circulating online. Reports speculating Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter may star in the supposed new series are untrue.
Among the outlets helping to spread the misinformation is Gamenguide, which on Monday published a story with the headline, “‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot Air Date, Cast, Spoilers, Latest News & Update: The CW Confirms Reboot? Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter As Blair, Serena?”
“There are reports making its round on the internet that Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter from ‘Girl Meets World’ might be topbilling the ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot,” writes the site. “‘Girl Meets World’ season 3 is reportedly the last season for them as Disney might not be renewing the series anymore due to a plot that seems to be mature for young children.”
The online publication goes on, “With the impending series finale, Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter are both left with no series to work on. The fans are already comparing Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter to the original ‘Gossip Girl’ ladies, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively.” Still, the article ultimately acknowledges, “Showrunners for ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot have yet to confirm if the project will push through.”
Well, that’s because there aren’t any showrunners for this reboot, as the project doesn’t exist. No such proposed series is in the works with Blanchard and Carpenter, or anyone else for that matter. And it’s worth noting these false allegations are coming from the same outlet that has run a series of completely erroneous stories on Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds.
