Gossip Cop Investigates Latest Robert Pattinson Interview

A British magazine is claiming a detailed interview with Robert Pattinson in which the “Twilight” sensation talks about not having a girlfriend and his trouble with women even after international stardom.

Whoa. Gossip Cop just had the strangest feeling of deja vu.

Could it be because Now Magazine is taking quotations today DIRECTLY from a Daily Mirror “exclusive” with Pattinson back in August that Gossip Cop proved he never gave?

In fact, the Mirror‘s fabrications were so egregious, Pattinson’s rep gave an exclusive comment to Gossip Cop at the time, saying: “I will only comment on matters regarding Robert’s professional life, but in order to set the record straight, Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him.”

In August’s phony Mirror piece, Pattinson was quoted as saying, “You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens.” Sound familiar? In Now he allegedly says (drum roll), “You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens.”

Today Gossip Cop sent a letter to Now Magazine’s publisher that said, ”Your purported interview with Robert Pattinson is a complete fabrication.”  We also asked, “Is the reason there was no byline because no one wanted to admit to cribbing these fictitious quotes? I think you owe your readers an apology, and should immediately pull this article from your website.”

Gossip Cop will let you know if Now responds.

    I love you guys! Laying down the law and calling bogus, slanderous “media” out and putting them on blast!!! Thank goodness for you. I always check out stories with Gossip Cop first. Keep us posted on any response to your letter (excellent, by the way), though I doubt you’ll hear remorse or even admission. Keep on, keepin’ on!

    I’m so tired of seeing old and/or manufactured quotes from the Twilight stars. Just because it sells magazines doesn’t make it the right thing to do! Awesome that you sent them a letter like that!

    The British tabloids have been pretty quiet on the subject of Robert Pattinson until recently. It’s a shame they can’t do any better than copying fictitious interviews. Loved your letter to the publishers, though. I’d like to think they would respond positively to it, but knowing our media I think it unlikely.

    Good for you. Nothing annoys me more than fake interviews. There have been so many, particularly from UK rags attributed to a celebrity I really like, Jennifer Aniston. I hope you will debunk all future fake interviews, no matter who the celebrity is. Keep up the good work guys.
