“Goosebumps” Scares Up Weekend Box Office Win
Jack Black and Goosebumps scared up a big box office win two weeks before Halloween. The frightful flick, inspired by the beloved R.L. Stine book series of the same name, won the number one slot this weekend with $23.5 million in ticket sales. That placed it ahead of The Martian. The two-time chart-topper finished in second with $21.5 million.
Steven Spielberg’s newest drama, Bridge of Spies starring Tom Hanks, brought in $15.4 million to snag the number three spot. With a $13 million opening, Guillermo del Toro’s latest thriller, Crimson Peak, took fourth place. Nabbing the fifth position was Hotel Transylvania 2, with box office receipts of $12.3 millon.
Rounding out the Top 10 this weekend were the disappointing Hugh Jackman-starrer Pan at number six with $5.9 million, while The Intern, featuring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, came in seventh with a $5.4 million. Sicario secured eighth place with $4.5 million, followed by Woodlawn with $4.1 million. And just making it into the Top 10 was Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, with $2.8 million in ticket sales.
