Golden Globes Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher Tribute Video – Watch In Memoriam
The Golden Globes remembered Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher on Sunday with a special in memoriam tribute. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop has reported, the 60-year-old Fisher died on December 27, a few days after suffering a medical emergency onboard a flight from London to Los Angeles. Just one day after her death, Reynolds died, too, at age 84. Reynolds was a five-time Golden Globe nominee over the course of her legendary career.
With their shocking passings coming just days before the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards, organizers indicated the stars would be honored during the ceremony. Executive producer Barry Adelman told People, “We have not done an ‘In Memoriam’ on the Golden Globes. Those things are handled really well by the Oscars and the Screen Actors Guild. But we do realize there were some special circumstances of [a] very recent nature that happened, and I think we’ll be acknowledging that.”
Adelman similarly told Variety, “We’ve always kept the show as a celebration and as a party, and yet we realize this is a special circumstance — certainly with the recent passings of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. So we’re going to acknowledge it, but we’re still in discussion with exactly how we’re going to do that.”
The segment ended up consisting of host Jimmy Fallon noting that mother and daughter recently passed, and then playing a video montage of their memorable stage and screen moments. Check out the video below.
