Glee Cast Talks Series Finale on Ellen: “We Could Feel” Cory Monteith There (VIDEO)
The “Glee” cast gathered on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday to talk about their upcoming series finale and the emotional final taping, which was filled with tears. Watch the video below.
Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet all squeezed onto a couch to discuss what it was like to wrap up the hit show after six years. “It was really cathartic… of course you’re going to cry,” said Criss.
One particularly emotional moment came when the series’ crew and production personnel joined the cast during a Matthew Morrison musical performance. “It’s as if you take every family member and friend that you’ve ever loved and that you have to say goodbye to, and put them all in front of you at once,” explained Ushkowitz. Michele said they had to stop the scene because everyone was crying too much.
Of course, one of the show’s original stars, Cory Monteith, died in 2013, making things even more emotional as “Glee” came to an end. As Overstreet told DeGeneres, “There’s a moment in the last episode that we had [to honor the late actor], and then obviously when we wrapped we all took a moment.” Colfer added, “He was there, though. We could feel him.” Note: Video no longer available.
