“Glee” gets Season 3 order

Get giddy, “Glee” fans.

Fox has ordered a third season of the show, still only in its first year.

Anchored by Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, and a group of young actors who have made it the top-rated new scripted series in key adult demographics, “Glee” has averaged more than 13 million viewers since returning from hiatus.

“Everything about Glee – from the concept to the characters to the marketing – has been innovative and risky, but with [series creator] Ryan Murphy tapping into the zeitgeist, the risk has paid off with this truly remarkable series,” Fox president Kevin Reilly told EW.com.

“Glee has one of the most active, devoted fan bases I’ve ever seen, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to give Gleeks a third season of their favorite show.”

Its first season concludes on June 8, with new episodes slated for 8:00 PM on Tuesdays in the fall.
