Girl Meets World Officially Picked Up: See First Pics of Cory, Topanga and Daughter!
It’s official: “Girl Meets World” has been picked up as a series by Disney Channel. The spin-off from the beloved 1990s show “Boy Meets World” features Rowan Blanchard as Riley Matthews, the middle school aged daughter of iconic TV couple Cory and Topanga, played by the original show’s Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel. A series order was made official on Monday.
“I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids,” said show creator Michael Jacobs. “Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular.”
Disney exec Adam Bonnett said in statement, “Boy Meets World and its story of adolescent self discovery resonated with an entire generation of tweens.” He added, “In the same way audiences fell in love with Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, we look forward to introducing our viewers to their daughter Riley Matthews in Girl Meets World and building a memorable connection with a whole new generation of fans.”
“Girl Meets World” is slated for a 2014 debut. Are you excited for it?
