Giada De Laurentiis Fires Back At Tabloid’s Lies About Cheating (EXCLUSIVE)
Giada De Laurentiis is hitting back at a despicable new tabloid cover story that alleges she may have betrayed her husband Todd Thompson with a number of celebrities, including John Mayer, Matt Lauer and Bobby Flay. In EXCLUSIVE statements to Gossip Cop, De Laurentiis eviscerates the report from Star, a facts-starved magazine that has lied and fabricated cheating scandals for years.
Last month, De Laurentiis and Thompson revealed that they were ending their marriage after 11 years together. They had amicably separated last July and plan to co-parent their daughter Jade. No responsible outlet reported anything salacious about the divorce, since there was nothing salacious about it.
But after bottom-feeding webloid RadarOnline regurgitated an absurd, debunked 2010 rumor about De Laurentiis and Mayer last week (which Gossip Cop correctly busted), its sister publication Star decided to throw a bunch of garbage against a wall on Wednesday to see what sticks. Throwing around garbage is what Star seems to do a lot.
The magazine now claims De Laurentiis and Mayer had an “affair,” and accuses De Laurentiis of having “close relationships” that may have been romantic with both Lauer and Flay. Star alleges De Laurentiis had an “outburst” at The Standard hotel in New York on December 10 over a supposed “leak,” and says “three different men” are blackmailing her with cheating allegations.
NONE of this is true. Star made up everything. De Laurentiis has given Gossip Cop an exclusive response to the tabloid’s mean-spirited and baseless allegations.
Regarding the John Mayer rumor, De Laurentiis tells Gossip Cop, “I have never ever been romantically involved with John Mayer. I met him twice at least 5 or 6 years ago at public events along with hundreds of other people. The small amount of face time with John was in rooms filled with other attendees at these events. I have not seen or even heard from him since. The allegation of an affair was a fabrication back in 2010 and remains so today.”
As for the Lauer and Flay rumors, De Laurentiis tells Gossip Cop, “My long-time friendships with my co-workers Matt Lauer and Bobby Flay are exactly that — long-time friendships. There has never been a romantic relationship with these two men.”
That alleged outburst De Laurentiis had on December 10? Star made it up. She informs Gossip Cop, “I was not at the Standard Hotel on December 10th. I was on an early morning flight back to Los Angeles, and I have not stayed at the Standard Hotel for at least the last few years.” And regarding the Star allegation that “three different men” are “looking for a payday or they will go public” about non-existent affairs with De Laurentiis, she tells Gossip Cop, “This is a complete fabrication. There are no men out there making any such claims, and I have never been contacted by anyone.” There is literally ZERO evidence for ANYTHING Star says about De Laurentiis.
Meanwhile, the tabloid is notorious for spreading lies. In the last few months alone, Star has published cover stories claiming George and Amal Clooney are expecting a baby (false), alleging Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake are getting divorced (made up), reporting Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson were separating (never happened), saying Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner had the “fight to end all fights” (flat out untrue), and speculating about a Julia Roberts and Danny Moder divorce (another lie).
Oh, and Star also ran cover stories claiming Kim Kardashian was pregnant for a second time (false), that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were expecting a baby (false), and that Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth were divorcing (false). ALL of these cover stories from Star, in just the past few months, turned out to be 100 percent untrue. Star is shameful and clueless, and its attack on De Laurentiis is just the latest in a long series of embarrassments for the magazine.
