Armed Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening to Kill George W. Bush
An armed man was arrested in New York on Friday after threatening to kill former George W. Bush.
Benjamin Smith, of upstate New York, was taken into custody in Manhattan by Secret Service agents.
He was found with a loaded .38-caliber rifle, two boxes of ammunition, a machete, and a container of gasoline.
According to a federal court complaint, Smith threatened to “kill, kidnap and inflict bodily harm” on Bush, and wanted to be in a relationship with his daughter Barbara.
Smith’s mother had alerted the Secret Service after finding a note from her son in their home, in which he wrote he was going to work for Bush and the Pentagon, and was unable to find him.
“I have to slay a dragon and then Barbara Bush is mine… America is finished. Obama, Etc,” Smith allegedly wrote in his note.
He was eventually tracked in New York City via cell phone monitoring, and found sitting in his car with the weaponry.
As he was being arrested, Smith allegedly screamed, “Bush will get his,” and later said under questioning that he’s “divorced and not currently seeing anyone, but I am working on a relationship with Barbara Bush.”
