George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin Wedding Reportedly Cost $1.6 Million
The high-profile nuptials reportedly had a $1.6 million price tag, according to People, which published the couple’s first wedding photos. There are currently a number of speculative rumors claiming the Clooney-Alamuddin event cost between $5 million and $13 million, but those figures appear to be way off the mark.
People is also backing up what Gossip Cop first exclusively reported last month — Clooney paid for 100 percent of the wedding, despite tabloid reports suggesting that Alamuddin’s family were given the bill for the weekend-long festifities in Venice, Italy. As Gossip Cop previously reported, guests were told not to give the couple gifts.
Clooney and Alamuddin said “I do” in a star-studded wedding in Venice. The ceremony was held at the Aman Canal Grande hotel, and officiated by Walter Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome. Clooney’s parents George and Nina were in attendance, along with Alamuddin’s parents Ramzi and Baria. Famous guests included Rande Gerber, Cindy Crawford, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana. Bill Murray, Anna Wintour and Bono were also on hand. Following their wedding, the couple had a civil ceremony in Venice, making their marriage official under Italian law.
