George Clooney and Tom Cruise do not have a “long-running feud,” despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this rumor. We’re told there’s “no truth” to it.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Clooney admitted he wants to take on smaller supporting roles as he ages, explaining, “There are actors you’ll see that try to hold on to this leading-man status long past the due date.” Clooney was speaking in generalities, and not about any movie star in particular, but that didn’t stop OK! from claiming the actor was referring to Cruise.

A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “George has never liked Tom. He thinks it’s pathetic that Tom still pushes himself as an action star and is obsessed with Scientology instead of using his money and clout for humanitarian causes.” The magazine’s misinformed source goes on to claim Cruise “knows that George was targeting him in the interview, and he’s not happy.” The publication’s alleged “insider” adds, “It’s going to get uglier, because the older George gets, the less he cares about mincing words… The gloves are off.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively assures us there’s “no truth” to the tabloid’s claim of a Clooney vs. Cruise showdown. There are simply no issues between the actors, despite the magazine’s attempt to create a nonexistent celebrity feud.

In fact, OK! has a history of arbitrarily incorporating Clooney and Cruise into bogus reports. Gossip Cop previously busted the tabloid for falsely alleging that Cruise was determined to score an invite to Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s wedding because the actor was supposedly trying to “wedge his way back in” to Hollywood social circles. This latest rumor of a feud is equally unfounded.
