George Clooney: Hello! Magazine Interview Is ‘Completely Fabricated’ And ‘Disturbing’
George Clooney never gave an exclusive interview to Hello!, despite the British magazine publishing a piece this week, claiming to have spoken with the actor. In a statement released to Gossip Cop on Friday, Clooney revealed that the tabloid produced a fake interview with made-up quotes.
“Hello Magazine has printed an ‘EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW’ with me that has been widely picked up and reprinted,” Clooney said in his statement. “Outlets like Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, The Sun, and The Evening Standard have all printed my exclusive interview and credited Hello Magazine. The problem is that I have not given an interview to Hello Magazine and the quotes attributed to me are not accurate.” The actor went on to note, “In my experience, being misquoted is not unusual but to have an ‘exclusive interview’ completely fabricated is something new. And a very disturbing trend.”
The fabricated interview mostly focuses on Clooney’s relationship with his wife, Amal, with one of the fake quotes including, “We have a rule whereby we are never apart for more than a week.” The tabloid also claimed that Clooney said, “We also stay in touch via social media, so we try to keep close even if we’re in different parts of the world.” The magazine’s so-called interview with Clooney further made up quotes about him and his wife traveling around the globe to spend time together.
