George Clooney Bails Out of Jail

George Clooney has posted a $100 bail and been released from jail.

The actor and activist was arrested on Friday after crossing a police line during a protest in front of Sudan’s embassy in Washington, D.C.

Clooney, along with other protesters including his father Nick, Martin Luther King III and a congressman, had gathered in front of the building to demand action against Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, whom they accuse of triggering a humanitarian crisis.

He and 17 others were cuffed and taken into custody.

    I like and respect George Clooney. But hand-cuffed? Not unless cuffs are made of plastic. He was not treated like a criminal with the cold metal, but with the safer, nice plastic restraints.

    This is old fashioned civil disobedience and no real “jail time” was ever intended. This is straight out of the sixties and created to make a point. It gets headlines because he is Clooney, but young people way before him have done it as well, but did go to jail and spend time in the lock-up. Only saying this to keep things in proper perspective, not to diminish the goal. This is being treated like this type of thing was created by Clooney, which it was not.

    He wants to raise awareness. The world is aware and nothing changes, George. Does he think it’s all of a sudden gonna change because he said so? He can’t even talk people into paying to see his movies. He drops bombs every year at the box office lol

    Are you serious?? Why are you criticising him for protesting against something that is wrong? Is it because he is famous? I don’t believe he thinks HE will change things because he says so, but just because he is famous does not mean he can’t think HE is another one to stand with others against some of the cruelties committed in the world… And though I’m not really his fan, I don’t go around criticising his work, maybe he doesn’t get the best results in the box office, but hey, at least he gets nominations for the Oscars… Unless you’ll say those don’t mean anything.

    Isn’t Clooney usually more reserved and more calm and not one of the ones to get arrested in stuff like that like protests? I never thought he would be involved in a protest. That’s all.

    i love to see a celebrity getting arrested. THEN they can see how the non-celebrities feel. The celebs are all so spoiled and don’t appreciate the smaller things in life. Take angelina jolie for example. Thay spoiled, traitor bitch fails to realize she would not have all those millions if it weren’t for the AMERICANS ..instead she is a traitor to us all…going against us and givin to the foreign countries, and aiding the enemies… Help the homeless agencies of USA for once angelina u traitor!

    What exactly does Jolie have to do with this. Get mad at Clooney, he also gives money to “foreign” issues and I don’t see him giving money to the US Homeless either (though he and Jolie probably give more than folks like you). You think the Sudan is in the US? Wow, get real here. Jolie and Clooney do their fair share.

    I still think very highly of George Clooney’s integrity. True he most likely received much gentler treatment then a non celeb. The other day in Phila, PA where I live there were protestors protesting our mayor Michael Nutter ruling no feeding of the homeless. The protestors feared getting arreste but that fear did not stop them from protesting. Its the fact that the actor was willing to be cuffed for his belief I think is praiseworthy.
