George Clooney Announces “Hope for Haiti” Performers

At the 67th Annual Golden Globes, George Clooney said his “Hope for Haiti” telethon to benefit those devastated by the earthquake, will feature performances by Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Bono, Christina Aguilera and Sting.

Additionally, more than 40 stars are expected to participate in the January 22 fundraiser. The benefit’s purpose is “to show the people of Haiti that the whole world is paying attention,” Clooney explained to the Associated Press.

The New York-based event, co-hosted by Clooney and Haitian-born Wyclef Jean, will be broadcast on more than a dozen stations with Anderson Cooper reporting in from from Haiti.

The fundraiser will benefit the Red Cross, Partners in Health, Oxfam America, UNICEF, and Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation.

Additionally, music performed during the event will be available on iTunes. Proceeds from he sales will go to the relief effort.

    It would be a good thing for Rpattz and Kstew to be there. I know that they value their privacy and don’t seek to be in the public eye at the this time, but this an important cause. It would a be noble, unselfish, and generous act on their part. I would respect them for it.

    this is not good, for George Clooney to have Wyclef onboard. The smoking gun said that his YELE organization was fishy and that they hadn’t filed taxes since 1999, the Better Business Bureau is not recommending them either, and it just came out days ago that he pays himself 25% of the donations.
    Like I said I can’t believe George would be so irresponsible as to include a crook like Wyclef. It’s like a free for all.
    If you want to donate please don’t do it through him. But directly through CNN’s and MSNBC’s recommendations as well as the governments recommendation: the red cross and uniceft.
