Gangster Squad Release Pushed Back for Reshoots After Dark Knight Shooting

Truth rating: 10

(Warner Bros.)

Warner Bros. announced on Wednesday that it has pushed back the release of Gangster Squad by several months in light of last week’s tragic killings during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, the movie – which was originally slated to open September 7 – features a scene showing a movie theater killing spree similar to the one that tragically played out in Aurora, Colorado last Friday.

Warner Bros. initially pulled the trailers that featured the controversial scene, but has since decided to re-shoot that part of the movie entirely.

Consequently, the film will now be released January 11, 2013.

Meanwhile, Summit has opted to not to cut a scene in Step Up Revolution, opening Friday, in which dancers burst into a room wearing gas masks and body vests, and threaten to throw gas grenades.

What do you think of the movie studios’ decisions?

Honestly, as much as I sympathize with the victims of this tragedy, I have to say that this disappoints me. Movie Studios should not have to feel like they need to change their movies because of the actions of one loathsome individual.

I think we need more scenes of innocent people being viciously gunned down, not fewer. (This is sarcasm, in case it wasn’t obvious).

I totally agree it’s insain to me that they will spend more money for reshoots and push back open dates because they don’t want people to feel uneasy. In all honesty I don’t look at scenes in a movie and go ‘Oh this just happened in the news’ NO NO NO it is a MOVIE and something like Gangster Squad is going to have violence and death and guns, the studio shouldn’t change anything, PEOPLE should change or just not go if they can’t seperate movie from real life.
