Games of Thrones Surpasses The Sopranos as HBO’s Most Popular Series

Game of Thrones” now reigns as HBO’s most popular series.

The fantasy drama, adapted from George R. R. Martin’s series of novels, has officially surpassed “The Sopranos” as the the most-watched show in the cable network’s history.

With the final two episodes of the fourth season approaching, the show’s average audience has gone from 18 million to 18.4 million.

Comparatively, the most-watched season of “The Sopranos” in 2002 had 200,000 fewer viewers.

“Game of Thrones” has broken several ratings records, and has even gained 4 million viewers since last season alone.

The season four finale airs on June 15.
