“Fuller House” Disses Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen In Premiere (VIDEO)
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were dissed in the premiere episode of “Fuller House,” the reboot of “Full House” that began streaming on Netflix early Friday morning. As Gossip Cop has previously reported, the Olsens, who played Michelle Tanner on the show beginning in 1987, were the only key cast members not to return for the new series.
In one of the scenes from the debut of “Fuller House,” Stephanie Tanner, reprised by Jodie Sweetin, asks dad Danny (Bob Saget) in a British accent, “Where’s me lil sis?” to which Danny responds with the dig, “Well, Michelle sends her love, but she’s busy in New York running her fashion empire.” Cast members Saget, Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin and John Stamos then broke character and stared disapprovingly at the camera for 10 long seconds (video below).
The “Fuller House” stars are, of course, referring to how the Olsens turned down the opportunity to play Michelle again because they’re now focused on their clothing and accessories companies. As Gossip Cop noted at the time, shortly after the spinoff was announced, Stamos tweeted he was “heartbroken” the Olsen Twins were not joining him and the other stars on “Fuller House.” Ashley said in an interview that she was not “comfortable acting” anymore, while Mary-Kate similarly expressed that she was so involved with their fashion businesses that the “timing” of the new show’s production didn’t work for her.
That one jab at Mary-Kate and Ashley will be the only one made during the 13-episode series, though a joke about the real-life Olsen Twins apparently comes later in the season. Check out the video below of the “Fuller House” cast dissing the Olsen Twins in the show’s premiere.
