Frank Ocean is responding to Chipotle after the fast food chain sued him for allegedly backing out of an ad campaign deal and taking the money for the work.
The singer had agreed to record a version of the song “Pure Imagination” for a commercial promoting locally sourced food, but refused to participate in the project when he learned Chipotle’s logo would be featured on the ad.
Ocean’s legal team wrote to the company, “When Frank was asked to participate in this project, Chipotle’s representatives told him that the thrust of the campaign was to promote responsible farming. There was no Chipotle reference or logo in the initial presentation, and Chipotle told Frank that was an intentional element of the campaign.”
The fast food chain then sued the performer for the $212,500 it paid him when he signed on to the project.
Ocean’s response to the lawsuit?
He posted a Tumblr photo of a check presumably made out to Chipotle for the amount of $212,500 along with the memo, “F**K OFF.”
