Forest Whitaker Falsely Accused Of Shoplifting, Frisked At NYC Deli

(GettyImages.com)

Forest Whitaker says he was falsely accused of shoplifting at a New York City deli on Friday and humiliated with a frisking in front of other customers.

A store employee reportedly accused the Oscar winner of stealing an item from the shelf at Milano Market, and then allegedly patted down Whitaker in full view of fellow patrons.

When the search revealed that Whitaker had not swiped anything, the upset star left the establishment.

“This was an upsetting incident given the fact that Forest did nothing more than walk into the deli,” his rep tells TMZ. “What is most unfortunate about this situation is the inappropriate way store employees are treating patrons of their establishment.”

According to the rep, “Forest did not call the authorities at the request of the worker who was in fear of losing his employment. Forest asked that, in the future, the store change their behavior and treat the public in a fair and just manner.”

The store has not commented.

Hope that employee cleans up his act or is fired.

How dare they? Boneheads. If there’s one heartbreakingly honest face in Hollywood, Forest Whittaker has it — not to mention a ton of class and elegance.

It was love at first sight for me.

Well, in a place I coming from, he could bring shop, shop’s manager and security of that place to the court and he will be awarded some wealth.
Even if you are suspicious someone steals, if you have no camera proof and you are not 100% positive item will be found on suspect, you never ever accuses someone of shoplifting. You let them walk, that way you protecting business’s good name, and their profit against unwelcomed lawsuits.
I can’t understand how anyone in NY is a able to do such a blatant mistake.

Whitaker is too nice of a guy – the employee who laid his hands on him should definitely be fired. Unless the employee is also a cop, he has no business frisking someone. Several companies fire any employees who lay their hands on patrons they suspect of shoplifting.

Anyone who did that to me would get decked on the spot.

its no big deal… the security persons did their job correctly.. they deserve appreciation. and forest whitaker wasnt found to be a thief, so he has nothing to worry or whine about or cry like a 9 year old little girl..Because take it all in a grown up way. We are part of a society, and it has certain rules.. just because you acted on some movies, does not mean everybody else has to bend tehir rules for you… you are the same like anybody else. By being searched you were not insulted.. take it in a grown up manner that the guards were just doing their job. If somebody comes to the scene where your next movie is being shot, and he decides to be in the middle of the view blocking yourself from the camera and claims that he is special and have a right to be infront of you to face the camera, will you feel comfortable? its the same here too.. let the guards do their jobs. Oh, just as a side note, I feel scared at the way in some movies you look at some actresses..

store employees aren’t suppose to be frisking customers. period. if you see something, call the police. in fact, if you see theft going down in the store you work, you aren’t suppose to confront them because there is always a chance that they have a weapon on hand and will kill you.
