ABC’s new summer music series, hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Arsenio Hall, features iconic musicians paying tribute to the best songs from the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s. Each episode highlights a five-year period celebrating the biggest hits from that era. On Thursday’s show, Foreigner joined musical forces with the lead singer from one of today’s most popular bands to deliver an updated rendition of their legendary rock ballad.
“I Want To Know What Love Is” was originally released in 1984 and quickly became a worldwide number one single. Many popular artists have gone on to perform covers of the track, including Mariah Carey, Julio Iglesias, Shirley Bassey, and Clay Aiken. It was also prominently featured in the Rock of Ages movie and Broadway show, and was used on the 2015 season finale of “Orange Is The New Black.”
As Gossip Cop reported, “Greatest Hits” paid tribute to the late ’90s last week, with the Backstreet Boys being joined by Meghan Trainor for a performance of “I Want It That Way.” Also during that show, Hanson performed an acoustic version of “MMMBop.” Watch Foreigner and Ruess’s “Greatest Hits” collaboration below!
